Using Call and Response Phrasing
Learning To Use
Call & Response Phrasing
in Your Solos
Guitar Soloing School Lesson #4
Most music contains at least some element of ‘call and response’.
So if everyone from Beethoven to Bird, Bach to BB King have used it to create great music – it’s probably something
you
want to start using too.
The idea of
call and response
or
question and answe
r phrasing is simple:
A musical phrase is heard as the ‘
call
‘ or ‘
question
‘.
This is followed by another phrase which is heard by the listener as the ‘
response
‘ or ‘
answer
‘.
Simple though this concept is, don’t underestimate the power it can have in giving your solos more shape, structure, and more of a ‘story like’ vibe.
With a bit of practice, you can soon begin using call and response in your music, and in this video I’ll demonstrate some great ways to get started.
Apply the ideas in this guitar lesson, and soon you’ll start to
naturally
hear and execute call and response phrasing in your playing.
So jump in now, and prepare to see some
game-changing
results in your guitar solos.
