Many players don’t think about improving their timing and rhythm from a soloing perspective. They think playing in time is just for ‘rhythm’ guitar players!
I used to be one of these player, crazy I know!
Fact: the better your sense of timing, rhythm and groove when you improvise and solo – the better you are going to sound.
I always think that you want to be able to ‘hear the drummer’ just from listening to someone’s solo – even if they’re playing alone.
But how can we develop our sense of groove in a methodical way, and start giving our solos the rhythmic energy they need to sound as good as possible?
In this lesson I’ll show you a couple of great approaches to help you to do this. We’ll look at playing different rhythmic values like quarter notes, eighth notes and triplets. We’ll also look at
how to learn to combine these to help you to feel the groove more strongly, and make your solos stand out from the crowd.
